#🌱 #🟠 # Investigating generative themes requires self-transcendence ![[calendar-plus.svg]] Nov 03, 2022 | ![[calendar-clock.svg]] Jan 03, 2023 🏷️ [[Leadership MOC]] [[Paulo Freire]]'s argues that liberating actions on a historical social environment must correspond to [[generative themes]] *and* how those themes are perceived (Pedagogy of the Oppressed, 2000, p. 102). Freire argues that to investigate a generative theme "requires that the investigators and the people...should act as *co-investigators*" (p. 106). He emphasizes that the more active role the people take in investigating the more they will deepen their critical awareness and take ownership of the situation (p. 106). This sounds a lot like [[self-transcendence]], which Carey describes as the key to full human growth and increasing connection to the [[authentic self]] (p. 7). ## Sources [[Heraclitean Fire - Carey 1999]] [[Pedagogy of the Oppressed - Freire 2000]]
