# Key to shifting culture is unsticking the leadership group

Often top leaders are resistant to change themselves because the status quo has led them to the top. They have influence, status, and power, so they don't *need*
anything to change.
Culture of the organization won't change if the leaders don't.
## How to get senior team on board?
Mandating that senior leaders participate in training doesn't usually work. [[Michael Bungay Stanier]] and his Box of Crayons team take a more persuasive approach.
- Give the top leaders a taste of one of the training modules, but frame it as driving client and new business engagement instead of being about managing people.
- Module will be useful, provocative, and leave them wanting more.
- Share that the leaders below them will receive the same training plus a lot more.
- Create [[scarcity]] by offering full-length programs for the leadership team, but there's only space for 15% of them in the calendar year.
