%% #💡 #🟠 %% # Mode 2 decision making Method of decision making when we feel conflicted between alternative options. This is where the [[rules for basic discernment]] and [[rules for subtle discernment]] come into play. Process of making a Mode 2 decision is not linear, but does involve a number of steps: 1. Place yourself in God's hands and pray to know his will. 2. Ask for the grace to do what God wants of you, whatever that is. 3. Use [[the Examen]] to reflect on and interpret feelings of [[consolation]] and [[desolation]]. 4. Imagine yourself having made the decision and notice how you feel. 5. Repeat the process for the other alternatives. 6. Discern the source and direction of your feelings. Do they take you towards or away from God? 7. Use the rules of discernment to determine what these feelings mean for your decision. If all goes well, one of the alternatives will emerge as the preferred one. 8. Discuss it with someone. 9. Decide and seek confirmation of the decision from God. ## Sources [[What's Your Decision - Sparough et al. 2010]] ## Tags --- *Created on:* 2022-06-25 *Last modified on:* 2022-06-25
