# Six principles of andragogy
1. Adults *need to know* why they need to learn something.
- Share the purpose and objectives of any training
2. Learning is easier when we can build on existing *experience*.
3. *Self-concept* means that adults need to be responsible for their own learning decisions
4. Adults learn best when they have a sense of *readiness* to use their learning to solve an immediate problem.
5. Adults learn best when training is *problem-oriented* rather than content-oriented.
6. Adults learn best when they have *[[intrinsic motivation]]*.
