The implication is that traits are consistent and stable - the idea being that how a person scores on a trait (i.e., high or low extraversion) is true across time and different situations. ### Five-Factor Model The Five-Factor Model is the most commonly used system of traits and can be remembered with the acronym OCEAN: - [[openness]] - [[conscientiousness]] - [[extraversion]] - [[agreeableness]] - [[neuroticism]] Individuals fall low, medium, or high along each dimension. Each of these five broad dimensions can be divided into many, more nuanced traits. Many people question whether personality traits are really that static, pointing out that people do not always act consistently from one situation to another because they are influenced by situational forces. Some personality assessments only measure where on the spectrum of each personality trait a person falls. These assessments do not sort individuals into specific groups or [[personality types]]. Some popular assessments include: - [The Big Fiver Personality Test](https://openpsychometrics.org/tests/IPIP-BFFM/) - [The HEXACO Personality Inventory (HEXACO-PI-R)](https://survey.ucalgary.ca/jfe/form/SV_0icFBjWwyHvJOfA) --- ## Sources Cummings, J.
