# Where obedience to truth can be practiced
![[calendar-plus.svg]] Nov 09, 2022 | ![[calendar-clock.svg]] Jan 03, 2023 🏷️ [[Learning]], [[Leadership MOC]]
This is the second part of the mantra that Dennis Conners introduced in our [[ORGL 615]] - Organizational Theory & Behavior course. In this context, obedience is not mindless adherence to an order. Instead, it draws from the Latin root, *"obidere,"* which means "to listen."
[[Leadership is a practice]], which requires that we [[practice]] the skills of leadership. Practice is an action - the act of trying over and over again with a goal of learning and growing. We'll naturally make mistakes and get things wrong, but we learn just as much (if not more) as we do from the things we get right.

> [! quote] Mantra introduced by Dennis Conners in ORGL 615
> We come together to create this space where obedience to truth can be practiced. We define truth as a continuing dialogue about things that matter conducted with passion and discipline.
