### Focusing on the customer
- In projects, [[customer|customers]] can be internal or external.
- Project manager must clearly understand customer's expectations.
- Build relationships with customers and take time to make sure they are heard and satisfied with result.
#### Asking the customer questions
- Meet with customer and determine what problem they're trying to solve.
- Do they have a specific vision for the final outcome?

### Building a great team
- Need to take time to understand each team member's motivations, strengths, and weaknesses.
- Identify the right team for the project and enable them to be successful and make decisions.
- Consider the skills needed for the project and the resources available
- Assign people with the right skills to appropriate roles on the team.
- Allow team to have input and ask questions, and address their needs ASAP.
### Fostering relationships and communication
- Take time to build relationships, communicate and treat others with consideration and respect

### Managing the project
- Project manager may be one of only a few people who see the whole picture and how each part impacts others in a project.

### Breaking down barriers
- Allow team to innovate new ways to do things and empower them to share ideas.
- Model ingenuity and collaboration.
- Provide support to your team as they try new approaches.
- Advocate for additional resources for your team.
