I don't agree with the authors' assessment of Kotter's model. I do not interpret Kotter's model as a top-down leadership model. It strikes me that, based on his description of building a guiding coalition, Kotter very much recognizes and advocates for the fact that those impacted most by the change must have a key role in leading the change in order for the change to be adopted and succeed.
